Truck overturns near Tsomo as police called over looting fears
A truck transporting bags of maize overturned near Tsomo on Monday, leaving its load scattered across the roadway as emergency responders called for urgent assistance from the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The crash reportedly happened on the Ngcobo side after passing Tsomo from Qoboqobo, approximately seven kilometres from Forty Junction.
At the scene, the police were requested to the scene as there were fears that people at the scene could be overpowered and the truck looted if SAPS did not arrive quickly.
The scene showed the truck lying on its side across part of the road, with multiple bags of maize scattered across the tar surface and roadside.
The exact cause of the crash has not yet been officially confirmed. It is also unclear whether anyone sustained injuries.
Motorists travelling in the area are being urged to proceed with caution while emergency services and authorities attend to the scene.
