Unplanned Water Outage Hits Parts of Komani After Pipe Bursts in Grey Street
Residents in several parts of Komani are experiencing an unplanned water supply interruption following a burst pipe in Grey Street.
In a public notice issued on 17 February 2026, the Chris Hani District Municipality confirmed that the disruption was caused by a broken pipe and that repair work is currently underway.
Areas Affected
According to the municipality, water supply has been temporarily interrupted in the following areas:

Queen Drive and intersecting streets

Grey, Prince Alfred and Tylden Streets

Green, Porter and Chalmers Streets
-
Parts of Westbourne Park
Residents in these areas are advised that water services will remain affected until repairs to the damaged pipe are completed.
Repairs Underway
The municipality stated that technical teams have been dispatched and are working to restore supply as soon as possible. No estimated time for full restoration had been provided at the time of publication.
The interruption has been described as unplanned, indicating that it was not part of scheduled maintenance but the result of infrastructure damage.
Municipality Apologises
Municipal Manager Gcobani Mashiyi apologised for the inconvenience caused by the disruption and assured residents that every effort is being made to resolve the issue promptly.

The municipality has urged affected residents to use water sparingly once supply is restored to allow the system to stabilise.
