25-Year-Old Komani Man Missing After Trip to Lady Frere
Police and family members are appealing to the public for assistance in locating Olwethu Rasmeni, a 25-year-old man from the Komani area who has been missing for almost a year.
Olwethu was last seen on 19 January 2025, when he informed his family that he was travelling to visit relatives in Cacadu (Lady Frere) in the Eastern Cape. Since that day, he has not returned home and has not made any contact with his family or friends, raising growing concern about his safety and wellbeing.
Last Known Movements
According to information provided by the family, Olwethu left home on the morning of 19 January 2025. His intention was to visit relatives in Lady Frere, a trip that would normally not have taken long. However, he never arrived back home, and attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.
Family members say his disappearance was completely out of character, as he would usually inform them of any delays or changes to his plans.
Missing Person Case Opened
After several days without any word from him, the family reported Olwethu missing to the South African Police Service. A missing person’s case was officially opened, and police investigations are ongoing.
Despite these efforts, there have been no confirmed sightings or reliable leads regarding his whereabouts to date.
Family’s Ongoing Search
Over the past months, Olwethu’s family has made repeated appeals for help, using both formal channels and community networks to try and trace him. They have distributed information, spoken to community members, and followed up on any possible leads, but without success.
The family remains deeply concerned and continues to hope that someone may have information that could help bring clarity to what happened to Olwethu.
Public Urged to Assist
The family and police are urging anyone who may have seen Olwethu Rasmeni, or who may have information about his movements on or after 19 January 2025, to come forward. Even information that may seem small or insignificant could prove vital to the investigation.
Residents in Komani, Lady Frere, and surrounding areas are especially encouraged to check their records, messages, or memories from that period.
