Fatal Head-On Crash Reported on R410 Outside Komani
Head-On Collision on R410 Claims One Life
One person has died following a serious motor vehicle accident on the R410 on Tuesday evening after a head-on collision involving two vehicles.
The crash occurred at approximately 21:30 on the R410, about 2.2 kilometres east of the Lady Frere turnoff, according to emergency services.
A bakkie and a light motor vehicle were involved in the collision, resulting in extensive damage. Both drivers were reportedly trapped inside their vehicles, requiring emergency rescue operations at the scene.

Emergency medical personnel confirmed that the driver of the bakkie was declared deceased on the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.
Three other occupants sustained injuries ranging from critical to moderate. One patient was transported to Frontier Hospital with moderate injuries, while two others — including one critically injured patient — were stabilised and transported to the same hospital for further treatment.
Traffic on the R410 was affected while emergency teams worked to assist the injured.
The South African Police Service has opened an investigation into the cause of the collision. No further details were available at the time of reporting.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution, particularly when travelling at night and on rural roads.
