Heavy Rains Cause Major Road Damage in Enoch Mgijima Municipality
KOMANI – The Enoch Mgijima Municipality is dealing with the aftermath of heavy rains that have caused significant damage to several roads across the region.
Municipal responded by deploying machinery to repair and clear the worst-affected areas.
According to the municipality, the roads in Ezibeleni and Kwa Themba have been particularly hard hit.
Some routes have become so damaged that vehicles are currently unable to cross safely.
A TLB (tractor-loader-backhoe) has been dispatched to assist in restoring access and making the roads passable for residents.
Municipal spokespersons have urged motorists to drive cautiously and to avoid areas that have been identified as dangerous until repairs are complete.
They also highlighted that teams will continue patrolling and assessing other roads that may have been weakened by the heavy rainfall.
The municipality is urging residents to report any severe damage or blocked roads so that immediate attention can be given.
Local authorities have assured the community that restoring safe travel routes remains a top priority.
