Enoch Mgijima Names New Chief Financial Officer Following Selection Process
The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has appointed Nolitha Estelle Tyali as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Tyali will be replacing former Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality CFO Paul Mahlasela who parted ways with the municipality this year after being suspended for more than a year.
Tyali’s appointment follows a thorough selection process, which included a public advertisement, shortlisting, and interviews.
Special council meeting
This was announced at a special council meeting on Friday 12 December 2025.
According to the agenda item, a total of seven applications were received for the position, and four candidates were shortlisted for interviews.
After a rigorous evaluation process, the selection panel unanimously recommended Tyali as the most suitable candidate for the position.
Appointment is subject to the conclusion of a performance agreement
“Tyali’s appointment is subject to the conclusion of a performance agreement within 60 days after commencement of service and will be on a permanent basis. The remuneration package for the CFO position will be as prescribed for a Grade 4 municipality,” read the item.
The item stated that the municipality’s Municipal Manager will present the selection report to the council for approval. If approved, Tyali will take up the position on January 1, 2026.
Tyali will be employed on permanent basis, subject to a performance agreement to be concluded annually.
If Tyali declines the offer, the position will be readvertised
“She will receive a remuneration package as prescribed for a Grade 4 municipality. Her appointment is subject to the conclusion of a performance agreement within 60 days after commencement of service,” said the item.
The municipality has also confirmed that if Tyali declines the offer, the position will be readvertised.
“The MEC for cooperative governance and traditional affairs Zolile Williams will be advised accordingly within 14 days of the resolution,”said the item.
